Mission Statement

IS&T's Departmental Services (DS) Team assists the MIT community in the application of computer technology to their work and their research.

Through a unique understanding of IS&T services and the local departments', labs', or centers' (DLCs) missions, operations, and culture, DS consultants are capable of providing direct and comprehensive technology support for faculty and staff. This begins with desktop technology and often expands into higher-level technological and consulting services. Working locally in the DLCs we support, yet operating in a centralized organization, DS strives to utilitize both local and central resources to provide quick and courteous service to our clients in order to minimize end-user downtime and loss of productivity.

Teams and Services

DS consultants help MIT departments, labs, and centers (DLCs) define their computing needs, and assist in the implementation and continued maintenance of computing resources to meet those needs. This includes integrating new technologies into departmental workflows, helping the MIT community gain access to institutional data by providing a conduit to the appropriate resources, advising local users on hardware and software products, and many other computing services and solutions.
