Cross-platform development
FileMaker is a cross-platform application that allows for the development of server/client databases accessible by both Windows and Macintosh. See the list of current IS&T-supported client platforms and operating systems.
Although it is possible to extend FileMaker's capabilities through Applescript and VBScript, by doing so you may eliminate the cross-platform nature of your application, thus placing platform restrictions on its current and future users. Similarly, when implementing platform-specific script steps or file paths, be sure to accommodate both platforms conditionally.
