Total Rewards
IS&T Human Resources works closely with MIT's Central Human Resources Compensation Office to establish and implement fair, equitable and competitive compensation programs. In addition, IS&T frequently participates in a variety of market-based compensation surveys in order to be competitive and in step with trends in higher education and technology.
IS&T/MIT Compensation and Pay Philosophy
IS&T works in concert with MIT's pay philosophy. The Institute's pay decision guidelines emphasize fiscal responsibility and consideration of staff''s continued development, expansion of skills, knowledge, and performance. Learn more about MIT's pay philosophy.
Parity and Promotion
IS&T looks at parity and promotion opportunities twice a year: during the spring with a target July 1 effective date and during the fall with a target January 1 effective date. The twice-a-year process does not preclude efforts to address more urgent parity or promotion situations, but helps to ensure a broad view of IS&T staff as possible.
It is a manager's responsibility to initiate the process. This should be started two months before the desired effective date. For information on this process and to receive assistance, contact an HR Consultant at (617) 715-5162 or send e-mail to ist-hr@mit.edu.
Total Rewards
Total Rewards is a term used to describe all of the employer-sponsored benefits, programs and services available in the workplace that may be used to attract, motivate and retain employees. As IS&T/MIT employees, you provide the time, talent, effort and results, and MIT provides you with programs - rewards - of value. MIT makes significant monetary and non-monetary contributions to employee compensation and benefit programs that help foster financial stability, a balance between work and personal responsibilities, the promotion of better health, and continuous learning opportunities. MIT firmly believes it is an investment in you as an employee to support various stages of your life and career.
To discuss MIT's Total Rewards in detail, contact an HR Consultant at (617) 715-5162 or send e-mail to ist-hr@mit.edu.
