Selection criteria

Recommended printers are chosen according to the following criteria that ensure they will work in the MIT environment:

  • Networking capability
  • Duplex printing capability
  • Postscript or PostScript Emulation capability
  • Serviceable by IS&T Help Desk/Repair Center
  • Recommended three-year hardware warranty from manufacturer
  • RAM

Recommended printers come with 32MB of RAM minimum. Increasing RAM will increase printing speeds for larger documents.

IS&T does not recommend the use of personal printers for administrative work groups

Dell-branded printers do not offer 11x17 printing capabilities
