Coeus Training Classes and Resources

Coeus is the on-line tool used by MIT to create, build, and submit grant proposals to Grants.gov, foundation, or corporate grantors. There are two versions of the tool, Coeus Lite and Coeus Premium, and IS&T offers training classes for both versions.

CoeusLite

Duration: 3 hours
Fee: No charge
Class Audience: DLC Administrators, OSP Administrators, & Faculty
Prerequisites: STARweb (Specialized Training for Administrators of Research) modules 1-4.

Learn how to use CoeusLite, the intuitive, web-based tool that allows granter requestors to develop grant proposals and submit them for approval. 80% of all grant proposals can be to managed in this tool. Hands-on training shows you how to create, develop, finalize, and submit a grant proposal, and will address best practices for using the CoeusLite tool. Upon completion of this class, participants will be able to:

  • Access and Navigate CoeusLite
  • View a proposal in progress
  • Create a new proposal
  • Assign proposal roles
  • Complete proposal details, including Sponsor, Organization, PI, and Key Persons
  • Upload and Attach Narrative files
  • Create a Budget
  • Validate using Grants.Gov
  • Check approval status

Duration: Two 3-hour sessions held on consecutive days (total of six hours)

Prerequisites: STARweb (Specialized Training for Administrators of Research) modules 1-4

Coeus Premium is for complex proposals. It is a full featured java-based application that provides the same functionality as CoeusLite with some additional features, such as the ability to upload a detailed Sub-Award PDF document. This hands-on training class focuses on Coeus’ Proposal Development module. Upon completion of the two training sessions, participants will be able to:

  • Navigate and Search Coeus Premium
  • View proposals in progress
  • Create a new proposal
  • Assign proposal roles
  • Complete proposal details, including Sponsor, Organization, PI, and Key Persons
  • Upload the Narrative and Personnel documents
  • Create a Budget Validate and submit a proposal for approval
  • Check approval status
