The Educause Computer Security Awareness Contest
If you have students (or are a student) who'd like to make their mark in the IT security landscape, here's a great chance for them (or you) to do just that!
The contest seeks short computer security awareness videos and posters developed by college students for college students. The contest seeks creative, topical, and effective posters and videos of two minutes or less that focus attention on computing security problems and how best to handle them.
Winners will receive cash prizes, and their videos and posters will be featured on the Educause Security Task Force website. The videos and posters may be used in campus security awareness campaigns.
A gold, silver, and bronze prize will be awarded in four categories - training films of two minutes or less, 30-second public service announcements (PSAs), posters, and videos submitted with posters as a combined entry - for a total of twelve cash prizes.
Cash prizes:
- 4 Gold winners: $1,000
- 4 Silver winners: $800
- 4 Bronze winners: $400
Deadline: April 30, 2009.
Good luck!

The last time Educause held this contest in 2007, it was part of a national campaign to raise awareness of and increase computer security at colleges and universities.
According to the Educause website:
The contest sought videos that explain computer security problems and specific actions college and university students can take to safeguard their computers or personal information. Two categories of videos were sought: two-minute training or instructional videos, and 30-second public service announcements (PSAs). The winning videos can be used in campus security awareness campaigns during student orientation and throughout the year.
