IS&T teamed up with the Department of Facilities Operations and Security, and the Audit Division to sponsor Security Awareness Day:

About the Speakers

Scott Bradner
Scott is the Technology Security Officer at Harvard University. He writes a weekly column for Network World, and serves as the Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the Internet Society (ISOC). In addition, he is a trustee of the American Registry of Internet Numbers (ARIN). As Harvard's Technology Security Officer he tries to help the University community deal with technology-related privacy and security issues. He also provides technical advice and guidance on issues relating to the Harvard data networks and new technologies to Harvard's CIO. He founded the Harvard Network Device Test Lab, is a frequent speaker at technical conferences, and does a bit of independent consulting on the side.

John DiFava
John DiFava recently accepted the position of Director of Facilities Operations and Security for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2002 he was hired as Chief of the MIT Campus Police and later assumed the position of Director of Security and Police Services. Previous to MIT he was with the Massachusetts State Police for 28 years, and served as Colonel of the State Police for the last three of those years. As Interim Director of Security at Logan Airport, he was key to reinstating its credibility and security after the September 11 attacks.

Tom Jagatic
As part of Information Services & Technology at MIT, Tom is responsible for information security incident response, intrusion detection, digital copyright infringement compliance, and any other matters involving misuse/abuse of MIT computing facilities. He is a certified digital forensic examiner and technical lead for MIT's data incident response team (DIRT). He is also a member of the Technology Architecture and Planning (TAP) Group, a component of MIT's Information Technology Architecture Group (ITAG). Prior to his current position, Tom served as Manager of Incident Response for the Indiana University Information Policy Office.
