About Backup at MIT
Backing up the contents of your computer to a secure network server means that you can restore data in case of error or computer failure. TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager) allows individual users to backup their computers automatically. The Data Center Operations Services Team (DOST) provides backup services for the enterprise and departmental servers they maintain in the W91 Data Center.
About Backup Service:
MIT uses TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager) for its backup and restore services. TSM is an application that lets you back up and restore files to and from your computer, over the MIT network or via the Internet, to a secure server that IS&T manages. Information Services and Technology (IS&T) offers a choice of TSM service levels for backing up your data.
