Downloading Reports
- From the list of reports on the web page, find the one you want to download and click on the Mac link underneath the report name. Citrix users should download the PC version.
- If an error message appears about an "octet-stream" file, click Save As.
- Click on the Save File button.
Result: The report name icon appears on your desktop. - Open BrioQuery. From the File menu, select Open.
Result: A list of files appears. - Double click the report you want.
Result: The query displaying the appropriate tables appears on the screen. - Mac OS X users still using BrioQuery under Classic rather than via Citrix: If you cannot see or open the report you just downloaded, you need to take some additional steps to convert it:
- Control-click on the downloaded file icon.
- Choose Get Info from the pop-up box.
- In the next pop-up box, under Open with (toward the bottom), choose Other.
- In the Choose Other Application box, choose All Applications instead of the default "recommended applications" for the Enable option.
- In the next drop down, choose BrioQuery 6.2.3.
- The BrioQuery application in the applications list box will now be activated instead of grayed out. Double-click on it.
- The box from Step 3 will reappear, and "Open with" should now show BrioQuery. Close this box.
- When you double-click on the downloaded report icon, it should open in BrioQuery.
- After you have opened and processed your query, select File>Save As, and then click the Save button.
- When the Replace question appears, click on the Replace button. The report is now on your desktop saved as a BrioQuery file. From now on, to open this report, just double-click on it. BrioQuery will automatically open and display the query for the report.
Processing Reports
- If not already open, double click on the report icon.
Result: The report opens the Query section. - To run the report, press the Process button at the top of your screen.
Result: You will be prompted to log on to the Warehouse. If needed, select the OCE (open catalog extension) as warehse.oce. You will need to enter your username and Warehouse password. - Depending on the report, you may be prompted to enter a limit. In the window that appears a short text message is displayed to assist you with your limit selection.
- Once results are retrieved you will be automatically viewing the Results section. You will see many rows of information. This is your raw (unformatted) data. The pre-formatted reports are in other section as explained next.
- Proceed to the other sections to view the pre-formatted results. They are listed in the Sections area on the left side of the window. The report sections will be named with a meaningful description for that report. You now can print the report, or export it to Microsoft Excel.

Downloading Reports - Internet Explorer
- From the list of reports on the web page, find the one you want to download and right-click on the PC link underneath the report name.
- Choose to Save Target As...
Result: The Save As screen appears. - In the Save In box at the top, navigate to the folder in which you want to save the file, or save it to your Desktop. Make sure the "save as type" is either "BrioQuery Document" or "All Files".
- Click the Save button.
Result: The report name icon appears on your desktop, or in the folder to which you downloaded it.
Downloading Reports - Netscape
- From the list of reports on the web page, find the one you want to download and click on the PC link underneath the report name.
- Choose Save this file to Disk.
Result: The Save As screen appears. Make sure the "save as type" is "bqy". - Change the directory folder from Netscape to Desktop or the desired folder, if necessary.
- Click on the Save button.
Result: The report name icon appears on your desktop.
Note for Netscape users: If when you click on the PC link under the report name, a text file opens rather than the dialog box, you need to edit your browser preferences and identify BrioQuery as a Netscape helper application. To do this:
- Go to Netscape Edit Menu > Preferences > Navigator > Downloads.
- Select Open the download manager in the Downloads Dialog box if it is not already selected.
- While still in the Navigator section of Netscape Preferences, choose Helper Applications.
- Click New.
- In the New Type dialog box, for Description of type, enter BrioQuery.
- For File extension, enter bqy (do not put the dot, .bqy, just bqy).
- For MIME type enter application/x-brio.
- For Application to use, navigate to the BrioQuery application in the BrioQuery program folder in your PC Programs folder. Enclose the navigation path in quotation marks.
Processing Reports
- Go directly to the desktop and double click on the report you want.
Result: BrioQuery will automatically open the report. The report opens on the Query section. - To run the report, press the Process button at the top of your screen.
