Below is a list of recommended printers that meet the criteria for use at MIT including network capability and administrative computing needs. See Selection Criteria for a complete list.
Choosing a Printer
The Dell printers listed below are approved for SAP (administrative) printing.
Go to the Dell web site and search on any of the printer model numbers listed below to get more details on the features and specifications. Pricing for MIT is available from the Dell catalog [Certificates required].

Selection Criteria
Recommended printers are chosen according to the following criteria that ensure they will work in the MIT environment:
- Networking capability
- Duplex printing capability
- Postscript or PostScript Emulation capability
- Serviceable by IS&T Repair Center (at the IS&T Service Desk)
- Recommended three-year hardware warranty from manufacturer
- RAM
Recommended printers come with 32MB of RAM minimum. Increasing RAM will increase printing speeds for larger documents.
Notes
- Information Services and Technology does not recommend the use of personal printers for administrative work groups.
- Please note that the Dell branded printers do not offer 11x17 printing capabilities.
