Overview

The IS&T deployment of wireless MITnet access is provided to some public spaces, most classrooms, and the libraries. MITnet Wireless Network Coverage lists IS&T supported locations (see the campus map for an aerial view of wireless locations). There are other wireless networks on campus maintained independently within labs, departments, and schools through which you may be able to connect to MITnet; however, IS&T does not provide support to the MIT community for those networks.

IS&T now offers deployment and support services for wireless infrastructure in other areas of campus. You may request wireless coverage in an on-campus office, meeting room, laboratory, or departmental space.

Maintenance

A group that still wishes to maintain its own wireless LAN coverage must comply with Institute Guidelines for Private Wireless Access Points on MITnet and the Policy for Private Wireless Access Points on MITnet.

A Primer for Private Wireless Access Points on MITnet provides in-depth information useful to those who plan to install their own access points.
