About This Version

Entourage 2008, Web Services Edition (EWS) is the recommended and supported Macintosh integrated email and calendaring client for the MIT Exchange service. IS&T does not support Entourage with IMAP.

Entourage 2008 is included in Microsoft Office 2008 for Macintosh, the latest version of Microsoft's Office productivity suite for the Macintosh platform (Mac OS X). The Entourage EWS upgrade is not an auto-date but instead, a separate download from Mactopia.

Some highlights from the new and improved Entourage 2008 EWS:

Uses Exchange Web Services as the primary protocol to communicate with Exchange Server.
Enhanced Autodiscover service to easily configure account and automatically keep settings up to date.
Synchronization between Exchange Server and Entourage 2008 Notes, Tasks, and Categories.
Use of attachments in Entourage for Exchange calendar events.
Resolve names when composing mail and invites while outside of work without requiring VPN and LDAP.
Addition of an Enable Logging (troubleshooting) preference, to log all events that can be used as diagnostic information.
Built in logging with extensive reporting of diagnostic information.

Entourage 2008:

MIT is now able to offer Microsoft Office at no direct cost to departments, for faculty and staff use, and for student use on MIT-owned machines.

If your Department, Lab or Center (DLC) has been participating in the Campus Agreement for Office, you will no longer be charged and will not be JV'd for FY10. For details, contact your DLC's Office Software Liaison.
If your DLC has not been participating in the Campus Agreement for Office, you will now be covered for this use. You may obtain Microsoft Office either through your Office Software Liaison or by downloading it directly at IS&T's Microsoft Campus Agreement License page.

EWS Upgrade:

Download the Entourage Web Services upgrade from the vendor.

System Requirements

Below are the requirements needed in order to run Entourage 2008, Exchange Web Services Edition at MIT.

Computer/Processor: Intel-based, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (500 MHz or faster) processor.
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later, including 10.5
Memory: 1 GB RAM or more
Disk Space: 1.5 GB of available hard disk space
Additional requirements:
- DVD drive or network connection if downloading the installer
- HFS+ hard disk format
- Entourage 2008 for Mac SP2, with all updates applied.
