Restoring After a System Compromise or Crash

You'll need to do the following:

  1. Reinstall your operating system, and obtain a browser and certificates.

  2. Obtain virus protection software and system updates as needed, and scan your machine.
  3. Download and install TSM.
  4. Restore all critical files as soon as possible, before doing a backup. The reason is that a backup puts all files not yet restored in the inactive or "deleted" categories, and these unrestored files will be discarded in 30 or 60 days, respectively.
  5. If you are signed up for scheduled backups, configure the TSM Scheduler.

Contact the Service Desk if you need more advice about the restoration. process.
