Maple Web-based Introductory Tutorial Available
MIT IS&T has contracted with TechnicalMastery for a Maple web-based introductory tutorial [Certificates required] that allows you to learn the basics and more. Use the tutorial at an Athena workstation or at your computer, and you can launch Maple separately to try out the commands, features, and functions.

Maple 13.02, a maintenance update, is available to all users running Maple 13. Users should install this update to obtain the latest version. This update contains enhancements to many areas, including:

  • Platform support: Windows® 7 is officially supported with Maple 13.02
  • MATLAB® Connectivity: Improved performance, connectivity extended to MATLAB R2009b, and support for the MATLAB Link on 64-bit Macintosh® Intel® platforms
  • Language packs: Expanded support for Traditional Chinese and improved Spanish translation
  • Plotting: Improvements to EPS and PDF export and improvements to plotting on Macintosh
  • Other enhancements: Improved event handling in dsolve/numeric, better handling of read-only documents on Mac OS® X 10.6 (Intel), and improved support for multithreading

From the Tools menu in Maple 13, select Check for Updates, and follow the instructions. If that option is dimmed, you can download the update from the Maplesoft web site. To download and install Maple 13.02, please follow these instructions.

Maple is a complete analytical tool for professors, industry professionals, and students. Powered by its legendary mathematics engine, Maple lets you explore and visualize mathematical concepts, develop technical applications, and share information with the Web, Excel, MATLAB and even your own programs. Its worksheet environment lets you create professional reports, presentations, and interactive technical documents for teaching.

License Restrictions

This IS&T distributed version of Maple is for MIT educational and academic research use only by MIT faculty, staff and students. The software may be used on Institute machines or on personally owned computers.

Maplesoft requires users, upon leaving the Institute, to discontinue using the software. Maplesoft may also offer users the option of converting to individual ownership for a fee based on the then current academic price.

Maple licenses are NOT available to Lincoln Laboratory under MIT's contract with Maplesoft.

How to Obtain

Academic Computing has renewed the Maple-MIT contract and generously agreed to offer Maple to valid MIT users at NO CHARGE.

You can download and register for Maple 13 through the IS&T Maple Download site.
