The IS&T Infinite Mile Awards are the highest recognition from IS&T, which includes a special recognition cash award, presented to acknowledge IS&T individuals and/or teams making significant contributions to improving the services, systems, and experiences of IS&T and MIT community members.

IS&T Infinite Mile Awards are intended to primarily acknowledge the work of administrative and support staff employees (subcontractors, consultants, outsources and temporary employees are not eligible for the cash award).

To nominate an individual or team, describe their extraordinary contributions and how their work specifically relates to the award criteria/descriptions in whatever way you choose. Write, design, or record your nomination in whatever format works best for you and submit it as an attachment or link using the form below.

Anyone can nominate an IS&T individual or team for one of the following categories:

Commitment to Shared Success – for individuals and/or teams who:

  • Positively influence others to build consensus in a group, department, or organizational setting.
  • Help others develop by investing time and effort in coaching and/or mentoring.
  • Provide a sense of purpose, vision and mission for their coworkers and staff.
  • Exhibit a spirit of cooperation and willingness to help.
  • Develop trust and credibility through open, respectful communications and demonstrating accountability.
  • Manage and/or champion effectively through formal or informal leadership.

Innovation through Collaboration – for individuals and/or teams who:

  • Strive to improve the way IS&T gets work done by taking the initiative to improve the value and efficiency of the services we provide.
  • Maintain a consistently high-quality of service to the Institute by actively seeking new methods and approaches to fulfill the responsibilities and the mission of the department.
  • Act as a responsible and effective steward of MIT’s resources by finding ways to save money, time, energy, and/or innovating methods for how the department’s day-to-day operations.
  • Balance creative thinking with sound judgment and effective stewardship of IS&T’s responsibilities.
  • Serve as an educator and role model to others through positive and productive client and colleague relationships.
  • Participate in collaborative-problem solving, breaking down boundaries and/or creating new relationships to improve the way work gets done.

Creating Community – for individuals and/or teams who:

  • Help create, build, and nurture a welcoming and supportive environment in which all are encouraged to excel.
  • Inspire excellence in everyone through a positive attitude, energetic effort, and a collaborative spirit.
  • Foster a sense of purpose, vision, and mission for colleagues.
  • Get involved in helping others in ways beyond the borders of one’s job.
  • Make MIT a better place through their work and consistently demonstrating the ability to go above and beyond without fanfare.

Each year a new committee is selected to review and select award recipients (primarily comprised of previous award recipients and selected staff members). Committee members are not permitted to submit nominations, and are not eligible to receive an award during the year they serve. The committee evaluates the nominations on how well they address the criteria of the specific award category then submits the decision to the IS&T Senior Leadership team for final selection.
