Welcome to MIT!

Internet Access for Guests

Connect to MIT's Guest wireless network.
There are two options for those seeking to simply connect to MIT's wireless network for guests without needing access to additional MIT systems and services.

  • Option 1: Eduroam
If you are visiting from an academic or research organization participating in the worldwide Eduroam network, you may use your home institution's login to connect to Eduroam at MIT.
  • Option 2: MIT GUEST
When connecting to MIT GUEST, you will be prompted to provide your email address or mobile phone number. Visitors who do not have access to SMS/text messaging or email (e.g. international travelers without data roaming) can use the "Request Access from Sponsor" option and enter their host's MIT email address.

Systems Access for Guests

If you will require authenticated access to MIT systems and services, have your MIT host sponsor a Guest Kerberos account for you. Guest Kerberos accounts may be renewed by the sponsor annually as needed.

Choose your Kerberos username wisely.
Your Kerberos username becomes your MIT email address and will be your primary digital identity for MIT services, so choose a name that represents you well, as changing a Kerberos username later is difficult. After registering your account, you will be able to use it for access to authorized digital resources protected by Touchstone, MIT's single-sign on service.

Connect to MIT's secure wireless network.
Use your MIT Kerberos account to connect to the MIT SECURE wireless network.

Activate your MIT ID.
Get the MIT Atlas mobile app to activate and use your digital MIT visitor ID.
