IS&T provides new email accounts on Exchange.
Email, Calendar, & Collaboration
Access and manage your email account and calendar. Learn how to collaborate with colleagues over the phone, by text, or online, including video conferencing.
Conferencing (Audio and Web)
IS&T supports a variety of audio and web conferencing tools and makes them available to the MIT community.
Spam Filtering
Unwanted and unsolicited email, otherwise known as spam, is on average 78% of all email sent. To reduce the amount of spam coming into our inboxes, spam filters have been put in place on MIT's email system.
Most malware attacks today occur through a combination of spam and compromised web pages. Interacting with spam can put your personal information at risk as well as download a virus to your machine that may spread to other computers on the network.
Instant Messaging
On the Windows and Macintosh platforms, Jabber is the instant messaging system that allows MIT users to communicate with one another and Jabber users elsewhere on the Internet.
On Athena, there are two primary messaging services: Zephyr and Jabber. Zephyr is used internally at MIT but Jabber can be used to communicate both with other MIT users and with other chat services that use the Jabber protocol (such as Google Talk/Gmail Chat).
Email Lists (Moira and Mailman)
IS&T provides and supports two email list services: Athena/Moira and Mailman.
Calendaring (Exchange)
MIT's enterprise-wide email and calendaring service is called Exchange.
MIT Events Calendar
The MIT Events Calendar provides a consolidated listing of events taking place on the MIT campus and its off-campus locations.
Wikis
IS&T offers the MIT Wiki Service to provide MIT groups and organizations with collaborative web spaces. Any MIT community group, project, or organization can request a wiki space.
