CrashPlan (formally from Code42) is the recommended free cloud backup solution for desktops and laptops at MIT. CrashPlan sends a secure, encrypted copy of your data to external software servers via the CrashPlan server connection in the IS&T Data Center. It allows for simple, self-service data restoration/migration and runs a continuous backup in the background.
Note: TSM is the recommended service for backing up servers.
