MIT’s Google Workspace for Education to be Touchstone-enabled starting July 8
June 28, 2024

Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) will begin enabling Touchstone authentication for MIT's Google Workspace for Education service on July 8.

For community members who use their MIT email address as their MIT Google Workspace username, logging into the service will no longer require use of a separate password. Instead, enter your MIT email address when logging in, and you will be taken through Touchstone where you will authenticate using your MIT Kerberos username and password.

IS&T will enable Touchstone authentication for MIT Google Workspace accounts in batches starting July 8. IS&T will notify each account by email in advance on their scheduled day that Touchstone authentication will take effect after 5 p.m. that day.

Active sessions at the time of this change will not be disrupted; currently authenticated users will not be interrupted.

Community members who use an alternate username to access the MIT Google Workspace (such as [kerberosname]-google@mit.edu or a Moira list name) and those who use their MIT email address for a personal Google account will not be affected by this change, and may request migration into the Touchstone-enabled MIT Google Workspace by contacting the IS&T Service Desk.

If you have questions or need help, contact the IS&T Service Desk by calling 617-253-1101, emailing servicedesk@mit.edu, or using the chat feature in the MIT Atlas app.
