MIT Google Workspace for Education is a service that allows members of the MIT community to collaborate with each other, separate from their personal Google accounts. It is provided free of charge upon request.

Components include:

  • Sheets
  • Sites
  • Slides

Note: Gmail, YouTube, and Google Groups are not provided as part of the MIT Google Workspace package.

Members of a workspace in Slack can direct message individuals or create conversation channels for topics, projects, and groups. Duo Security

IS&T provides access to Duo, a two-factor authentication application that leverages landlines and smartphones as an "Approve" or "Deny" system to identify users. Two-factor authentication is an effective way of safeguarding against security attacks, particularly related to financial data.

Duo is a self-service web application for Touchstone-enabled web applications at MIT. Integration with other applications is also available.

Prezi Presentation Tool (Pilot)

Prezi is a multimedia presentation tool that can be used as an alternative to traditional slide making programs. Instead of slides, Prezi makes use of one large canvas that allows for panning and zooming to various parts of the canvas to emphasize the ideas presented there.

Prezi integrates with several collaboration apps that are currently in use at MIT, including Slack, Webex, and Zoom.

Poll Everywhere

Poll Everywhere is a dynamic online polling platform that allows participants to respond in real time to presenter-generated questions. 

Faculty members and instructors can use Poll Everywhere to gather live student feedback during classes via surveys, polls, and discussion boards. Participants can respond via the web, text messaging, and apps for iOS and Android mobile devices.

Poll Everywhere can also be used outside of Canvas to create standalone polls and activities for collecting feedback and input.
